Salutations,
I want to present a very good sci-fi space game for your consideration.
Platform: Windows PC (Vista, 7, 8.1, and 10)
Genre: Freeform First Person 3D Flight Space-Sim
Evochron Legacy is a freeform space flight simulation that focuses on 'lone-wolf' survival gameplay and pilot controlled spacecraft management. The environment setting is a vast seamless style universe where you can perform many activities including buying, trading, spying, racing, escorting, delivering, emergency responding, mining, exploring, weapon/equipment crafting, cleaning solar panels, clearing paths through asteroid fields, recruiting, protecting, hiring crew members, fuel harvesting, building stations/cities, and designing/selling ships. Some objectives are part of the game's contract system with established parameters and pay levels while others are available for you to set up on your own terms through your choices of where to go, what to do, and how to do it.
Evochron Legacy is a technical flight simulation, not a story or character based game, so you are not limited by plot requirements or pre-selected character roles. You can change the course of gameplay and your role in the game's universe at just about any point. Your decisions and actions define your role in the game and establish your reputation, wealth, progress, and ranking. The emphasis is on real-time tactical gameplay strategy and flight simulation for both combat and non-combat objectives. You are in control of your ship virtually all of the time in open space, including player controlled combat and planetary descents.
Your ability to successfully survive dangerous scenarios in space, develop trade strategies, evade detection, harvest resources, efficiently explore for hidden benefits, and transport items can be just as important as your skill in combat. Set in a vast explorable universe, Evochron Legacy offers a high level of freeform gameplay with many diverse objectives and paths to choose from.

One thing I am very impressed with is that the entire Evochron series of space games have been created by ONE man over many years. His games are obviously a labor of love. I respect and appreciate that.
Please check it/them out at your convenience.

Seems like a good distraction while we wait for SC and squadron 42. I have been checking it out, and it seems really neat. Haven't bought it yet, still doing research though. Reminds me of x3 .

There is a free demo available for download.
On a completely unrelated note... I ordered a new video card yesterday! A GTX 1060 6GB! It should be a 'great' improvement over my current failing GTX 770 2GB.
After some research, I saw little benefit going with a faster more expensive GPU since I plan to build a new gaming rig during the next year with faster and better everything. I should get the new card within a few days. I'll probably test out Evochron with it and of course Star Citizen.
Ah.... the price of our toys. Onward and upward. (I hope) |

Great, i think i will try out the demo. I like the detail the game goes into.
I am also planning to build my own system. May take awhile as i have to save up for it.
Just looking for a motherboard and CPU and some ram. interesting times.

From what I am reading about this game, it is possible for us to host our own server. I have a powerhouse sitting in my man cave that is just looking for something to do to give a workout. If anyone feels the need for some MP, I would be happy to host it.

Yea... I will have to scrimp and save to get my new system one piece at a time. Oh well, there is no real hurry. |

Bradd this sounds like a great idea. I'll need some time to get into Evochron first though. I'm still having problems with my current GPU randomly shutting down.
Come on new card. |

Yes, same here. I don't even have it installed on my main system yet. Just on the Alpha. I will be getting it up and running on the beast hopefully this evening.

I have the full game but currently I can't even run it. My GPU shuts down. I can create a pilot etc... but attempting to run the game... I get a crash.
From what I have read... it has a LOT of helpful training tutorials or missions. I sure hope so. This looks like it could be a involving game to master. I can't find a 'printable' manual for it. There is a lengthy htm file that covers everything but I can't print it out.
I may re-load my old Microsoft Works program and see if I can convert the htm file.
I'll also go to the website and see if someone has created a printable manual. |

William, Check your home email. I found and downloaded a pdf of the in game Readme. At least I think that's what it is. If it looks good, feel free to upload it to the download section. I would do it, but I'm at work and don't have access to the HTML.

"A message was sent to you that was returned to the sender(bounced)
because it would have caused your mailbox quota to be exceeded. "
I didn't receive the PDF. They are wrong... I'm only using 6% of my allotted space.
I suspect that the file itself is just too big large be accepted.
There is no hurry... I can't run the game right now anyway. |

It would be awesome if we can do some MP empire building in Evochron. I have downloaded the demo, but still haven't fired it up yet. Hopefully I won't have GPU issues. It's been a busy weekend, family was sick. My son fell off a play structure and hurt himself. ( just bruised ) Hope to get it going soon.
Gotta read the manual now.

Downloaded the PDF manual. My new GPU runs Avochron Legacy with absolutely no problems.
Started going through the initial Evochron Legacy training missions. There sure is a lot to learn. Luckily, the tutorials hold ones hand pretty well and each session can be gone through over and over again.
I created larger keyboard printouts, for reference, that I could actually read. The normal printed one from the PDF manual was simply too small for my old eyes.... even with glasses. Results below. Much better.
