There is a lot to digest here and I'm not saying I agree with everything in this opinion piece, but it's certainly food for thought. I truly hope this guy is wrong, but I know there are niggling fears starting to grow among members of this community.

I didn't waste much of my time when I saw who the writer was. The bulk of the article was self promoting and promotion of his game(s)... especially Line Of Defense.
Derek Smart has always been a arrogant, know it all jerk. I give him credit for attempting to do what SC will do, but his efforts were not very good, were overly complicated and not fun to play. In his earlier games there were constant calls of him to add a tutorial for beginners. What was his response. He insulted the players intelligence. Funny, finally in the latest of his games there is a tutorial. Derek Smart reminds me of Thadeaus Tiberius Tween... but maybe worse.
Personally, I think he fears the success of Star Citizen will show up his failures to do what he always wanted to do.
