In my experiance, most infantry combat encounters take place well within 300 meters. It was probably much less tha than that in Iraq. Sniper operations excepted of course.
The carbine I featured above uses pistol caliber ammunition. It probably won't be a long range champ. I'll have to wait and see what it can do at a range. More fun.
Very true, William. I have a friend who is a Korean war vet. He was on a mortar crew and started out with the Garand. Soon afterwards he was issued a carbine because lugging the garand around along with the mortar base got pretty heavy. He said he loved his carbine, but as you pointed out it often took multiple shots to do the same job that a garand did with a single shot.
