Salutations Commanders,

My next weapon purchase will be a 45 AP semi-automatic carbine with laser attachment. I'll probably add a scope to it later.

Very nice weapon, William. I myself just added a new weapon to the stash this afternoon. I picked up an M1 carbine and was also able to score 240 rounds of military surplus M1 Garand ammo from the same source. As much as I love my garand, I must say I am extremely impressed with the garand's little brother, the m1 carbine. I had the carbine out shooting it this afternoon, and it is a deadly accurate weapon from 200 yds in. I am by no means a sniper caliber marxman, but I am very confident that anything that I need to hit inside of 200 yds is going to be hit. Now I have to try to locate more ammo at a decent price for it. It's late right now, but I'll be sure to post pics of the carbine tomorrow.

Yes, the M1 Carbine was a very accurate weapon. One of its primary weakness was the lack of one shot knockdown power compared to other rifles.

In my experiance, most infantry combat encounters take place well within 300 meters. It was probably much less than that in Iraq. Sniper operations excepted of course.

The carbine I featured above uses pistol caliber ammunition. It probably won't be a long range champ. I'll have to wait and see what it can do at a range. More fun.

Very true, William. I have a friend who is a Korean war vet. He was on a mortar crew and started out with the Garand. Soon afterwards he was issued a carbine because lugging the garand around along with the mortar base got pretty heavy. He said he loved his carbine, but as you pointed out it often took multiple shots to do the same job that a garand did with a single shot.
