Be forewarned anyone who is counting on playing Star Citizen, that this sim will not be for the faint of computer. I have an Asus gaming laptop that is fairly high end and only a few years old. I have not been able to run the hangar module on this laptop and I just was able to figure out why. You have to have a Direct X 11 capable GPU in order to run the Hangar module and presumably the same will be true for the full game when it is released. This is not a big deal to me as I purchased this laptop as a non working parts only computer off of ebay and was able to get it running again. My main system is my desktop which has no problem running the Hangar module. As I said though, this laptop is while not state of the art is a pretty high end piece of hardware so the moral of this story is make sure your hardware is up to snuff if you want to play Star Citizen. There will be some fairly high end machinery that will not be able to run it. This of course will become less and less of a problem as time passes and newer systems are purchased, but I suspect at the beginning there will be some folks who are a bit surprised by how wicked a system might be required to run this game. I am posting this in the hope that none of us will be caught without an adequate system when the time comes.
