Star Citizen's MISC FREELANCER

Life is a challenge. From the unforgiving abyss of space to the harsh conditions of atmospheric flight, your ship will have to suffer the extremes and everything in between. Couple that with the responsibility of transporting someone else’s property — you need a ship that’s dependable, enduring and capable of handling all of the obstacles that life can throw at you.

Challenge accepted.

Freelancer Craft Brochure is available for download on our downloads page. And yes, that is me in the cockpit picture. No snide comments please. Life has been hard on me. bigsmile

Hey cool, wonder how you did that.

It's not really, I just wanted to engender some comments. Wink

It is close to the way I look though, albeit I'm a bit greyer and balder Frown

Very funny. I was just about to ask how you managed to get RSI to use you as a model for their brochure. LOL!viking!

The freelancer looks fantastic though all joking aside. I can't wait until we are able to fly around with our own small fleet that is taking shape.

Salutations,

This will probably be my next major investment for a ship in Star Citizen prior to game release. Bradd, it only requires a crew of two. We could go check out a distant system or nebula. I'll bring a new deck of cards for those deep space trips. Do you play chess... if not, I can teach you.

Then again... I might also get an Aquila Constellation Class Exploration ship. Then again... oh well.

The Freelancer DUR - Long Range Exploration. Pretty isn't it?

I do play chess and love it actually. The game of kings. I have been seriously considering upgrading my Constellation to Aquila standards. It's only like 50 bucks l think. The only thing that worries me is if my snub fighter will still be able to dock when I upgrade.

Yes, I believe I read that you can have a snub fighter and the Ursa Rover vehicle on the Aquila. You might want to confirm that though.

It would be great if it could carry both at the same time. The Ursa Rover could be deployed to cover the ground area with the Merlin flying Close Air Support. Neat.Wink

wdboyd
Bradd,

From the Aquila Brochure.

Merlin launch bay has been adjusted for easy deployment.
Custom bay is adapted to deploy the RSI Ursa manned terrestrial exploration vehicle.

braddw25
Yes, I was just about to post that from the way my cargo bay currently sits and where the Merlin attaches, it should not be a problem assuming that the Ursa goes in the cargo bay. From the video you posted the other day that showed the URSA being deployed it does look like it is being dropped down out of the cargo hold. This would make sense since that area would not need to be used entirely for cargo on a dedicated exploration platform. I will think it over a little and I may very well decide to do the upgrade.

What do you think, William. To me, the Aquila is the most intriguing version of the Connie. It would seem that if one were in a pinch and had to make a cargo run that one could probably just leave the ursa behind so as not to take up space in the hold for cargo..... Decisions decisions.

I suggest you go to RSI and look and all the Constellation version brochures and compare. All of them are upgradeable to some extent.B)

I think the Aquila has less offensive firepower than the Andromeda or Phoenix. Take a look and think about it.

I personally like the Aquila but the Andromeda class is multi-purpose while the Aquila is basically exploration. The Andromeda could probably carry an Ursa too.

braddw25
Good point. Perhaps that is the way to go. Keep the firepower but possibly purchase an URSA later on.!viking!

An observation. The Aquila didn't trade cargo space for anything. That's good design for the more treasure-hunter focused explorers, or the part time explorer/part time salvager, etc. However it does mean that something else (offensive weapons) had to be traded and they were.

braddw25
Good point. Now I'm leaning toward keeping the COnnie as is for now. I can remember how things used to go in freelancer where you had pirate groups who banded together and basically made the game nearly impossible for new folks to enjoy because they just waited for them to come out of their home station and destroyed them. I'm thinking firepower will be of utmost importance here.

Yes... and perhaps some deep space capable and well armed escort craft. ie. Freelancer, 315P etc. B)

A lot of TEAM options to eventually be made reality.Smile

Also, we will be able to earn and purchase most craft from within the PU when it goes online.

Hey, we are getting NEW hangars in the next patch. We get to choose the type we want. Neat.

Oh... and I will get to fly my M50... oh, the joy... the rapture. Fantasy life is good. woot

Maybe even the Avenger.

braddw25
No doubt teamwork will be vital to survival in the persistent universe. Speaking of which, I just read that they are going to put Bengal class carrier derelicts in game which can be salvaged, fixed up, and flown by players. Can you even imagine having one of those?

I can't imagine manning or paying to field one including the fighter types it will carry. confused

braddw25
That is what I'm curious about. Would it have to be manned with military fighters like the ones which will be in squadron 42 or could it be used as a mobile base for other smaller ships?? Who knows?? Just another of the endless possibilities with this sim.
