That is very good news. While my personal preference would be to crew my ships with real players, it will be nice to have the flexibility to hire NPCs in the event that no carbon based lifeforms are available for play.

Salutations,
Here is the latest artist rendition of the forthcoming Freelancer for Star Citizen. I think it is looking pretty good.

My biggest concern right now is saving money for a new computer rig to run Star Citizen with every graphic function level turn up to maximum with no resultant screen lag.
Of course, I will have to get a new HOTAS flying rig with some rudder pedals and a flightsim chair. Oh, I'd also love a new fancy "Curved Monitor"... yea right, they are 3-5 thousand dollars.
I'm seriously considering going on a lengthy Raman Noodle diet. |

Don't do the Raman noodle diet. I lived on those things when I was in college. I ate so many of them that I can't even look at them now. LOL

Salutations,
It is reported that the carriers in Star Citizen will be displayed with over 7,000,000 polygons. That's seven million.
The fighter types will come in at or over 300,000 polygons.
That is a LOT of detail. It's almost ten times the best current models in any game. Starshatter models are limited to 16,000 poloygons in Magic, but one can combine three such model to portray one ship. That's still only 48,000 polygons. Quite a difference. |

Salutations,
The latest Heavy Freelancer version. What I find intriguing is that the ships in Star Citizen are going to be fully three dimensional, ie with interiors in which characters can operate and move. Amazing.
I suspect that during the actual modeling of craft it may be discovered that more room is required than iniitally expected so they are being forced to up-size them to make all of the desired onboard equipment fit.

Amazing details on these ships. I think you are exactly right in your assertions about this size of the ships. That is often a problem with ships in Sci-fi movies and TV series. They are almost always too small on the outside to accommodate everything on the inside. I too am anxious to see how all this will play out now that we for the first time have ships fully modeled outside and inside in a computer sim.

New and interesting images of the upcoming Star Citizen Freelancer. The image below is of the ships cockpit area.

Refer to the cockpit view above. Below is a recent cutaway view of the Freelancer.
Notice the Jump Seat behind the Pilot seat? Notice the (4) Berths and the Galley?
This seems to (may) imply that more than two people can be carried within the Freelancer. This assumes that the seats, berths and galleys are mirrored on the other half of the craft. Of course, they may not be included on the other side of the ship.
After all... everything is still a work in progress. Regardless, the level of interior detail is most gratifying.

The interior details are amazing, and speculating about the final configuration only adds to the fun and anticipation.
